In the town of Whoville everyone is comfortable, everyone is happy and everyone loves Christmas - well nearly everyone. The exception is The Grinch, a not so jolly green giant who lives atop a mountain overlooking the town of Who. He hates Christmas, so much so that he will try anything to stop it, whether it's destroying mail in the sorting office or scaring shoppers in the streets. The Grinch vows to spoil Christmas and goes burgling every Who house, dressed as Santa Clause and flying a rocket-powered sled he banged together from junkyard scrap.
Enters Cindy Lou-Who, a six-year-old girl who questions the town's obsession with over-the-top presents and investigates just why the Grinch is so grumpy. An unlikely friendship forms between the two. With a little help from the young girl, the Grinch discovers something about himself, and begins to realize what he has missed all the years he has hidden himself away.
Jim Carrey is amazing and fun as the Grinch. He earns big laughs without ever stepping out of character. Although the film won't appeal to all ages, this would make a great movie for any young person new to film and the Christmas holidays.
